A look at how we work on a larger commercial scope.
The Movenpick Hotel on Spencer Street came to Tint.Melbourne after another tinting business was unable to complete the job. The challenge was the scale of the glazing — windows approaching six metres in height across the hotel foyer and restaurant, with limited internal access making an interior installation impractical.
We assessed the site and specified 3M Prestige 40 exterior solar film, applied to the outside of the glass to reduce heat and glare inside the building without requiring internal access. It was the right product for the situation — and getting it installed required considerably more than just the film.
The job involved obtaining permits from Yarra Trams and the City of Melbourne, coordinating traffic management on Spencer Street, organising scissor lift access, and working within weather constraints that affected what days the installation could safely proceed. Weekend work was factored in from the outset to satisfy permit requirements.
Four installers completed the full scope in three days. The result was a noticeably cooler, more comfortable environment for guests in the foyer and restaurant — exactly what the client needed.
“We had been let down by another installer and needed someone who could handle a job that was anything but straightforward. Tint.Melbourne came in, assessed the situation quickly, and had a solution ready that we were confident in. The permits, the traffic management, the weekend work — they handled all of it without any drama. The difference in the foyer and restaurant is immediately noticeable, and our guests have commented on it. We would not hesitate to use them again.”

The King David School engaged Tint.Melbourne following a security assessment by an Israeli security firm, which recommended blast mitigation film across all windows at their four Armadale campuses – Early Learning Centre, Junior School, Senior School and Performing Arts.
The security firm had specified a European standard for which no direct film product existed. Rather than walk away from the brief, we assessed the requirement and recommended a film and silicone combination – Llumar SCL7 security film anchored with Dow Corning 995 structural silicone – which the security firm reviewed and approved.
From there the scope was straightforward: every window across four campuses was accurately measured and assessed, a detailed quote was submitted and approved and works began. The three-step installation process involved removing existing silicone, installing the security film, and applying new structural silicone to anchor it to the frame. With all works carried out outside school hours to avoid disruption to students and staff, a team of nine completed the full scope across approximately three months.
